Morzine 2008 - Day 1

Sunday 23rd March, 11.15 am Dublin Airport

Waiting to board for Geneva. Just a low level of excitement and anticipation. A little airport shopping - 2 pairs of sun glasses for the price of 1 - only question is who gets the fee pair. We are sitting beside the gate so we get to board first. Please turn off all mobile phones - so next installment from Geneva!

3.00pm (local time) Geneva Airport
Can you believe it our four pieces of luggage came out first and together!Might be a good omen. There has been lots of snow in Morzine and there is more forecast all week. Just heard from Deirdre - they are delayed in Luton for 2 hours snow!

4.10 On the road to Morzine.
Its snowing as we drive - there is plenty of light snow In the fields and on the rooves but nothing is sticking on the road .....yet. Its a nice start to skiing holiday and very different from last year when it was bright sunshine in the valley and plenty of snow up top.

4.45 Just over the top of the road at Les Gets.
The road is clear with loads of snow even a bit of blue sky. Should be there in 10 minutes, the anticipation is mounting.

A Late Dinner

Back from the ski shop all kitted out. Its snowing outside and dinner is nearly ready. Ronan our Chef is working away and Peter our host has us sipping mulled wine while the smell of the cooking is in the air. Dee and Chris are on the way but they also had a delay waiting for transfers. So we are going to go ahead and eat and they will eat later. I'd better stop writing now - the natives Are getting restless - blogging is anti-social I am being told.
